Plymouth University has a long association with marine and maritime affairs, and acknowledged excellence in its teaching and research in the field. The global scope and significance of the subjects demand ambition driven by both the highest academic standards and a truly international perspective.
In recognition of this, the University is establishing a biennial international conference on Marine and Maritime Affairs, and it is with great pleasure that I would like to invite you to participate in the inaugural event. This will be held in Plymouth on 4th-5th April 2011.
The theme of this year's Conference is "Sustainability in the Marine and Maritime Industries"; and the following fields will be covered:
- Marine environmental policy
- Marine renewable energy policy
- Maritime safety and security
- Logistics and supply chain management in the maritime context
- Climate change and shipping
- Shipping and port policy and management
- Human resources, higher education and skills training
The Conference is directed at stimulating dialogue between academics, policy-makers and professionals within and between the marine and maritime fields. We invite you to join us at this exciting event; and I am sure your participation will broaden the scope of our conference and enhance the dialogue that we promote.
